2. Don’t smoke

3. Treat your skin with care

Daily showering and shaving can damage your skin. To soften:

  • Limit washing time. Hot water, long showers or baths rob your skin of oil. Limit bathing or showering time and use warm or lukewarm water.
  • Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps or cleansers strip the oil from the skin. Instead, use a soft product.
  • Shave carefully. To protect and smooth your skin, use a product such as a shaving cream, lotion, or gel before shaving. For a clean shave, use a clean, sharp-edged razor. Shave in the direction your hair grows. 
  • Tap to dry. After washing or getting out of the bath, gently pat or cover with a towel to suck it dry. This will allow moisture to remain on the skin.
  • Moisturize dry skin. If you have dry skin, use a moisturizer that suits your skin type. Products with a sun protection factor (SPF) are fine for daily use.

4. Eat healthy food

A healthy diet will make you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat protein. Although the relationship between diet and acne is not yet clear, some studies have shown that fish oil or fish oil supplements (such as omega-3), and foods low in processed or refined carbohydrates and unhealthy low-oil foods can improve skin health.
