FallingTogether_400pxSynopsis

Mitch Jackson took a temporary job wrapping gifts at a Manhattan department store so he’d have some extra cash during the holiday season. He didn’t expect to get a bonus in the form of Austin Payne. Austin starts out as just another customer, though a particularly good-looking one, until he asks Mitch to dinner. Their whirlwind romance, touched by the magic of New York in December, soon grows from what could have been only a fling into something more—something like falling in love.

Okay, that was it. Mitch reached out and wrapped both hands in that sweater, not caring one iota if he stretched it out as he yanked Austin in and sealed their mouths together in a deep, wet kiss. Austin made a surprised sound and his free arm flailed for a second until he got his balance back. He shifted without breaking the kiss, moving over from the coffee table to the edge of the sofa cushion next to Mitch. Mitch made what he hoped was an approving sound and kissed him harder, hands clutching at Austin’s hair by then, holding him close so he could taste every single centimeter of his mouth.

He lost himself in Austin for long minutes, relishing the feel of Austin sliding his hands along his sides, across his neck, back into his hair. One hand dipped low and skimmed up under the back of his shirt, and Mitch moaned into Austin’s mouth. He didn’t—he wasn’t—they were going to take things slow. Isn’t that what he’d said yesterday? What they’d both said?

But he couldn’t stop kissing Austin. Couldn’t stop touching him. Didn’t want to stop. Austin felt so good everywhere, his lips, his hands, his skin.

And maybe most important of all, his heart.

Austin’s heart beat rapidly under Mitch’s palm, which had settled onto Austin’s chest. He didn’t remember putting it there, but it felt good, and not just because of the cashmere. The steady rhythm, the warmth and life and Austin of it, held him together while the rest of him tried to fly apart at the seams.

One of Austin’s hands came up to where Mitch’s lay on his chest, fingers tracing the veins on the back of Mitch’s hand, while Austin’s other hand spread out across his back, pressing against his skin as if trying to sink inside him. It seemed incongruous, the lightness in front contrasting with the neediness in back, but Mitch loved it. It fit what he felt, half of him quickly falling head-over-heels while the other just wanted Austin with a raw, clawing passion.

It was a tossup which half was winning out right at that moment.
