Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag – Annie

BFO-tag

Before I hop into my freak out, we at From Top to Bottom have an announcement to make. We posted about this on twitter but had yet to announce it here, but because it directly concerns the blog we thought we should say something here as well. After a great year with lots of fun, Laura has decided to leave From Top to Bottom Reviews to focus on other pursuits. We wish her all the best for whatever comes next.

But now to the post! It is kind of different than the usual blog-stuff we do, but I saw this tag on Min and Her Books and really wanted to do it. So here it is. Jude’s post will follow next week! 🙂

1. Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2017?

This is hard. There have been soo many amazing books I read this year and I don’t think I can choose just one. I won’t count rereads or books that haven’t been released yet – just to minimize the number of books I can choose from. xD
I guess it comes down to three books I really, really can’t decide between. That’s
– Beneath the Stars by Lynn Charles,
– Coach’s Challenge by Avon Gale and
– Heels Over Head by Elyse Springer.
And you can’t make me choose between those, because it’s just impossible to do.

2. Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2017?

I guess we’ll be here a while, huh? xD I’ve named Coach’s Challenge already for the first questions, so I won’t do it again for the second one (though I kind of did that just now lol) But seriously, the first book that came to mind for this question was Mature Content by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell, so I think I’ll go with that. Closely followed by Concourse, also by Santino.

3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To?

Small Change by Roan Parrish and The Wrong Woman by Cass Lennox! I haven’t had the time to read those yet but hope I can dive into them soon!

4. Most Anticipated Release For Second Half of 2017?

OFF THE ICE by Piper Vaughn and Avon Gale. You guys!! This book is brilliant, amazing, fantastic, captivating and just SO freaking awesome! Release Date is October 30th and I’m dying for everyone to read it because… I just love it! It has hockey(!!), a hot puerto-rican professor, a may/dec pairing and the chemistry between Tristan and Sebastian is one of my faves ever.

5. Biggest Disappointment?

I’ll just do this fast, like ripping of a band-aid: Two Man Advantage by V.L. Locey. Just read my review, that’s all I’m going to say on that.

6. Biggest Surprise?

Slow Heat by Leta Blake (which I’ve yet to review). I was sceptical about the a/b/o dynamic and the m-preg aspect of this story. But – and that’s a thing I’ve really come to love about this author – is that she writes such amazing emotionally relatable characters. And I think it’s impossible not to love Vale and Jason. So even though I’m not one to usually seek out m-preg I’d 100% read it again if it’s a Leta Blake.

7. Favourite New (or New to You) Author?

Favourite new author is without a doubt Elyse Springer. I really liked Whiteout, loved Thaw and Heels Over Head was just bloody amazing!
New to me author would be Meg Harding. I adored Marc’s the Spot, couldn’t get enough of Accepting the Fall and loved Finding Home.

8. Newest Fictional Crush?

Crush? Idk, I don’t really do crushes but I really adore Poe from Permanent Ink by Piper Vaughn and Avon Gale. He’s snarky and adorable and every bit of 23 year old you’d expect him to be. Though I’d really just want to be his best friends (and maybe cuddle a bit). 😉

9. Newest Favourite Character?

Right now I might be a bit obsessed with Tristan from Off the Ice by Piper Vaughn and Avon Gale because he was inspired by Colton Parayko – who might be my fave hockey player – so don’t judge me. LOL But I don’t just love him because he was inspired by Parayko. Tristan is also a great character, determined and focused, passionate, smart, has a great sense of humour and you know… just read the book. 😛

10. Book That Made You Cry?

The last one that made me cry was Heart of the Steal (Roan Parrish & Avon Gale) (she’s in this quite a lot #notsorry). Another book that made me cry was Illegal Contact (Santino Hassell).

11. Book That Made You Happy?

Every book already mentioned in 1. – 4. and 6. – 10.

12. Favourite Book To Movie Adaptation You Saw This Year?

I am so not a movie kind of person and rarely watch tv anymore so I’m not sure I watched a book to movie adaption yet this year?! Problem also is that usually I’ve either read the book or watched the movie. A show I really love is iZombie, but i haven’t read the books so I can’t say anything about how close to the original it is, if at all. The knowledge I have of those is limited to that I know they exist.

13. Favourite Review You’ve Written This Year?

Idk, I hope that’s not just me but I try to avoid reading older reviews of mine, because I tend to want to change little things. So by not looking at them I’m not tempted to do that. xD One I’m still happy with is the one for The Art of Three or the one for Enemy Within.

14. Most Beautiful Book You Bought So Far This Year?

It would be boring if I said Beneath the Stars or Heels Over Head again (even though those books – especially the paperbacks are soooo gorgeous!), so I’ll go with One Bullet by Casey Wolfe and the Daniel and Ryan series from Tamryn Eradani. I love those covers!

15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of The Year?

The last one in the Sucre Coeur series by Lissa Reed, Outside the Lines by Anna Zabo, Heat Wave and Changing Colors by Elyse Springer, Welcome to Crash by Lina Langley, Citywide by Santino Hassell but also books that I’ve had on my kindle for a while but haven’t read yet. I want to finish Amy Jo Cousins Bend or Break series, Where We Left Off by Roan Parrish, Chef’s Table by Lynn Charles, The Puddledown Mysteries by Kate Aaron and so many more I’m probably forgetting.

reader-breakThat’s it. I had a lot of fun answering these (even though I thought it might be easier) and maybe we’ll do it again next year. 🙂
